What is Blue Light?
Blue light is part of the HEV (high-energy visible) light spectrum. This means it has short wavelengths that our eyes don’t filter out as effectively as other types of visible light, allowing it to pass through the front of the eye to the retina.
Blokz lenses are crafted with an advanced polymer that filters blue light, offering all-day defense. Blokz More lenses offer enhanced shielding against the peak blue light that digital devices emit. Or, add Blokz Boost coating to any Blokz lens for an extra layer of defense.
Your questions answered
Common questions
How are Blokz lenses different from standard clear lenses?
Blokz lenses are made of a specialized lens material that absorbs blue light, reducing the amount of blue light that hits the back of your eye. Like our standard clear lenses, Blokz come with 100% UV protection and an anti-scratch coating.
For select lenses, you can add a new specialized coating that reflects away additional blue light for added defense.
How do Blokz blue light glasses work?
Blue light lenses use a specific layer baked into the lens to filter out a portion of the blue light spectrum, which ranges from 380 nm to 500 nm. The range and amount of light your lens filters out depends on which type of Blokz lens you choose. Our Blokz standard lenses provide 40% filtration of blue light, Blokz Plus Anti-Fatigue offers 60% filtration of blue light, and Blokz More has a special reflective coating targeting the 440nm–450nm range.
The lens technology in Blokz reduces the intensity of blue light that reaches your eyes without affecting visual clarity or color perception, allowing you to go about your day-to-day activities with peace of mind.
What enhancements were made to the new Blokz More lens?
Blokz More uses a dual-defense blue light lens technology: a specialized lens material to absorb blue light and an additional coating on the outside of the lens to reflect blue light. The outside reflective layer provides enhanced defense by reflecting up to 2x the amount of blue light where some digital device energy peaks (around 450 nm) compared to the original Blokz lens by itself.
What third-party testing and validation do Eyewearcraft’s Blokz lenses have?
Our newest Blokz More lens was third-party tested by COLTS Laboratories. The rigorous testing and verification of the lens means you can feel confident in the blue light filtering capabilities that your lens is providing. COLTS testing confirms our Blokz More lens offers 100% UV Protection and up to 2x more filtration at 450 nm (where some digital devices’ blue light energy peaks) compared to our original Blokz lens.
What is the Blokz Boost coating and which lenses can I add it to?
Blokz Boost is a coating that can be added to select lenses for enhanced blue light defense from digital devices and the sun. Best for those who spend extended time on digital devices or outdoors.
During the lens selection process, you can add the Blokz Boost coating to the following lenses:
– Blokz, Blokz Photochromic, Standard Photochromic, Transitions and Blokz Anti-Fatigue lenses.
Are Blokz blue light lenses tinted?
Standard Blokz and Blokz More blue light lenses are not tinted. However, you may notice a slight blue reflection when viewing yourself in video calls or in photographs. This blue sheen is generally not noticeable to the person wearing the blue light lenses.
Some of our other Blokz lenses do have a tint. Blokz Plus Anti-Fatigue has a subtle yellow tint for visual comfort. Blokz Sunglasses can be customized with the tint of your choice. Blokz Photochromic are virtually clear indoors and transition to dark gray outdoors.
